| There is a large choice of walks in the local area, both around the Vezin Lakes and also in other wooded areas. A short car journey can take you to suitable areas for forest, beach and cliff-top walks or to explore specialised environments such as the estuary of the Sélune and the Marais (salt-marsh) near to Mont St.Michel.
The whole area is very rich in wildlife. The woodlands and forests contain shrew, hedgehog, red squirrel, polecat, stoat, weasel, musk-rat, water-vole, fox, badger, pine-marten, roe deer and wild boar. Amongst the great variety of birds to be found locally (in suitable habitat of course) are curlew, cormorant, long-tailed tit, treecreeper, grey wagtail, serin, kingfisher, teal, buzzard and grey heron. At Le Grouin Point (near Cancale) the car-park overlooks an island just offshore, yet teeming with sea-birds.
