La Moitié gîte lies in the parish of Montjoie St.Martin, although just on the edge of St.James. It has a roadside location (not continuous traffic) on the route towards the large market town of St.Hilaire du Harcouët, some 15 minutes away. To the north of the property is an off-road picnic area and steep woodland which is part of the grounds of a large chateau. To the south, behind the house, is a pretty vista through the Beuvron valley towards the ancient town of St.James. There are numerous delightful walks around the immediate area.
The house has three levels, and is spacious and well-equipped. The kitchen has both a wood-burning stove and an electric cooker. Fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and other electric gadgets are provided, as are adaptors for English plugs. The second floor has two bedrooms, one double room and one with twin beds. The first floor has a kitchen/dining area and a separate lounge/TV room. On the ground floor there is a bathroom and a large dayroom/playroom leading directly into the garden. It is possible to provide additional sleeping downstairs to accommodate six people in all.
The garden is attractive and has a stream running through it, which is fenced-off for safety reasons without spoiling the beauty of the pretty views. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. There is also ample parking.
