| Although the beaches close to Mont St.Michel are somewhat muddy, a glorious 10km stretch of perfect sand stretches from the cliffs at Carolles northwards to Granville. This beach, which offers safe bathing, walking, sand-castling etc. may be conveniently accessed at Carolles, Edenville, Jullouville, Quéron, St.Pair and many places in-between. Good facilities may be found at these small towns during the holiday season, and there is also a superb view-point over Mont St.Michel bay at Champeaux.
Other splendid beaches may be found further north in Manche on both sides of the Cherbourg Peninsula, at the Normandy landing beaches in Calvados and in the many small coves around Cancale, Paramé, St.Malo and Dinard in Brittany.
